Texas Armed Services Scholarship

Rep. John Frullo is taking applications from Lubbock area students who want to be selected as recipients of the Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program (TASSP). The purpose of the TASSP is to encourage students to become members of the Texas Army National Guard, the Texas Air National Guard, the Texas State Guard, the United States Coast Guard, or the United States Merchant Marine, or to become commissioned officers in any branch of the armed services.

If selected as a recipient of the TASSP scholarship, you could be eligible for $4,000 in financial aid.

To be eligible, the student must meet two of the following four criteria:

  • Be on track to graduate or has graduated high school with the Distinguished Level Achievement Plan or the International Baccalaureate Program (IB);
  • Has a current high school GPA of 3.0 or higher or graduated with a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale;
  • Is currently ranked in the top third of their prospective high school graduating class or graduated in the top third of their graduating class;
  • Has achieved a college readiness score on the SAT (1070) or ACT (23)

Deadline: Students must submit their information  by August 1, 2018. The recipient will be selected and announced no later than August 15th, 2018.
