WASHINGTON ADDED TO REESE’S SENIOR BOWL ROSTER
Broderick Washington Jr. joins both Terence Steele and Jordyn Brooks this weekend in Mobile
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech senior defensive lineman Broderick Washington Jr. was added to the roster for the Reese’s Senior Bowl on Thursday as he will now play in Saturday’s 1:30 p.m. CT kickoff from Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Alabama.
Washington, who participated in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl this past weekend in Southern California, will travel to Alabama today to partake in the final two days of practice as well as Saturday’s game, all of which is highly attended by NFL scouts and coaches from all 32 teams.
Washington will have a familiar face on his team once he arrives in Mobile as he will be on the South squad alongside Terence Steele. Fellow teammate Jordyn Brooks is also at the Senior Bowl site this week but will not take part in any on-field drills or Saturday’s game.
This is only the third time in school history where multiple Red Raiders have been selected to the Senior Bowl as DeAndre Washington and Le’Raven Clark, both now in their fourth year of NFL duty, participated following the 2015 campaign, while Donny Brooks and Lloyd Hill took part in the 1994 event.
It is the first time in program history three Red Raiders have been chosen for the prestigious game, which pits the top draft-eligible players across the country against each other. Washington and Steele will be coached this weekend by the staff of the Cincinnati Bengals.
Washington was previously coached by former Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis last weekend at the NFLPPA Collegiate Bowl where his National squad prevailed in a 30-20 victory at historic Rose Bowl Stadium.
Television coverage for the Senior Bowl will be provided nationally on NFL Network.
