Lady Raiders Fall Short in Waco
For the first time this season, Texas Tech went with the starting five of Chrislyn Carr, Andrayah Adams, Nailah Dillard, Lexi Gordon and Brittany Brewer. The Lady Raiders moved to 0-1 this season when deploying this starting five. It marked freshman Nailah Dillard’s first collegiate start.
Texas Tech scored 42 points in the first half, tying the most points allowed in a half by Baylor this season (Washington State, 2nd half, Nov. 28). The Lady Raiders finished with 79 points, surpassing No. 1 South Carolina for the most points scored on the Bears this season.
Tech hit six three pointers in the first quarter, led by Lexi Gordon with three, to trail by only one after the first 10 minutes. The Lady Raiders finished with 12 triples–just two short of tying the school record. It’s the most three’s allowed by Baylor this season.
Gordon and Brewer both finished the first quarter in double-figure scoring, Brewer with 10 points and Gordon with 11. Brittany Brewer finished just one rebound shy of her ninth double-double of the season, but recorded a new season high in scoring with 24 points.
Gordon tied her season high in threes with four. Brewer’s nine rebounds moved her into ninth place on the program career rebounds list with 794, surpassing Plenette Pierson and Cisti Greenwalt.
Tech finished the game on an 8-0 run over the final two minutes.
